Ying will show slides of her life in China and the people and locations that inspired her writing. She will talk about her journey as a writer, growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution, coming to this country as a graduate student, and writing in her second language. She will share how experiences inspired her writing, such as her award-winning books Revolution is Not a Dinner Party, Crouching Tiger, The Run Away Wok, and her newest cookbook Ying's Best One-Dish Meals.
